Three different figures
- Credit limit: the approved ceiling assigned to the account.
- Credit used: the portion currently tied to outstanding repayment obligations.
- Credit available: the amount presently available for a new eligible purchase.
Why checkout may still decline
Seeing a credit limit does not guarantee an order. CanPay also checks available credit, overdue instalments, direct-debit authorisation, account activation, the minimum order amount and account or merchant restrictions. The exact blocking message in checkout identifies the next step.
If credit is insufficient
A few options can help a purchase fit within your available credit:
- Choose a lower-value order, or remove items so the financed amount fits your available credit.
- Pay part of the price directly to the merchant outside CanPay so only the remaining balance needs financing, if the merchant can accept a split payment.
- Clear eligible outstanding payments and wait for your account figures to refresh.
- Ask support to review a credit-limit concern. A consistent on-time repayment history can support a higher limit over time.
Important: Support and the chatbot cannot promise an increase, disclose a limit that is not shown on your account, or give a specific timeline for a review. Never split or manipulate transactions to bypass checkout controls.
